School of Basic Science

The School of Basic Sciences was established in 1958. The School is composed of 3 departments, 15 teaching and research divisions, 5 laboratory centres and 1 research institute. The School covers a broad spectrum of basic courses such as clinical medicine, clinical medical laboratory, medical imaging at both undergraduate and graduate level. It also provides teaching and administrative support for departments like The Biotechnology Department, The Bioengineering Department and The Pharmaceutical Department.

School of Health Management

School of Health Management is originated from School of Social Sciences which was founded in 2004. The School is comprised of department of public utilities management, department of applied psychology, department of law and department of marketing. The School is staffed with 44 members by April, 2011, among them, 37 are teaching staff, of whom 95% hold master degrees or above and 14 are qualified to supervise master¡¯s degree students. In recent years, faculty members have won one national teaching award, four provincial teaching awards, and ten municipal teaching awards. Furthermore, the faculties have been granted 15 provincial projects, and have published 26 publications and over 300 research papers.

School of Public Health

School of Public Health used to be entitled School of Public Health and General Practice, which was founded in December, 2005. It consists of Division of Preventive Medicine, Division of Statistics, Institute for Chemical Carcinogenesis, and experimental teaching centre. The School is composed of 35 faculty members (academics 25, teaching support staff 5, and administrative staff 5). There are 8 professors, 6 associate professors and senior experimentalists. Among the faculty, 10 members hold doctoral degrees and 19 hold Master¡¯s degrees. Four teachers are qualified to supervise PhD student while ten teachers are qualified to supervise master students.

Nursing School

The School of Nursing was established in 2005 , but the history of the School can be traced back to the founding of Nursing school affiliated to Yau Tsai Hospital by American Presbyterian Church in 1902, where started the first nursing programme in South China. The School has witnessed the growing prosperity of modern nursing education in China and is highly recognized for our excellence in teaching, research, and practice.

Postgraduate School

Guangzhou Medical University has been authorized to confer master’s degrees since 1984, and enrollment started in 1985. GMU was granted pilot institution for clinical medicine and qualification to confer master’s degrees to on-job postgraduates with same academic ability in 2000. It was accredited qualification to confer doctoral degrees in 2001 and the enrollment began at the same year. It was authorized to run post-doctoral research station in clinical medicine in 2003.
